BEAUTY | The Porefessional by Benefit

I'd seen this product raved about all over beauty blogs across the interwebs but never really thought it was something that I needed in my life...how wrong was I? My cousin gave me a sample of this, I used it on NYE and bought the full sized version the next day on the way to work because it immediately became something I just couldn't live without!

I'm very lucky with my skin and rarely get blemishes or any other skin complaints but I do get a bit of redness around my nose just under my eyes on my cheeks (if that makes any sense haha!) and although everyone tells me they're not noticeable I feel like my pores are really visible. I'd been on the lookout for a while now for something that would minimize the appearance of them and really I'm an idiot for not trying out The Porefessional before...the clue is practically in the name! It says it can be used under or over make up, personally I prefer to use it under a light base such as a BB Cream (I think I might be the only person still not over that hype!) Using fingertips I pat on a tiny amount to my nose and a small area around it and the difference is noticeable straight away. I did try taking before and after pictures however it wasn't having any of it, but the area was smoothed out and my pores were virtually invisible. It feels really lovely on the skin too, very soft and silky! I add a little BB Cream and sometimes a touch of concealer on top and it stays put the whole day. Even when I'm at work, which is 7 hours in the basement floor of the shop where it can get a little stuffy and hot, I don't need to touch up which is brilliant. I'm surrounded by mirrors at work and trust me there's nothing worse catching sight of yourself every two seconds looking like a fish...there's nothing I can do to save my fringe but it's definitely a great relief not having to worry about my make up being ruined too.

If there was one thing I was to grumble about it'd be the packaging! I know everyone loves the girly cuteness of Benefit but I dunno why I just find it really annoying. I like products to look sleek and unfussy! Anything too gimmicky and it makes me think that that's what you're really paying for instead of a decent product however Benefit has impressed me time and time again. At £24.50 this isn't that cheap but it's definitely something that I'll repurchase when it eventually runs out. Although Maybelline have got a similar product out now and I'd like to try it out...it's one of those brands that just seems to work for me and at a third of the price of the Benefit one I'd like to think it works just as well! It's just the name that puts me off...'Baby Skin.' Freaks me out!

Have you tried The Porefessional? Or the Maybelline dupe? I'd love to see a review on it! And lots of love to Hannah from tea.three.sugars for so sweetly making my new header for me...a million times better than my shoddy effort! Thankoo Hannah! xxx

  1. I'm keeping an eye out for the maybelline dupe to be honest. Name aside. I don't have skin worth the price tag of the Benefit one x

  2. I've tried a sample of this before, and loved it. I really want to buy the full-sized one, but it's so pricey... I'm tempted though. Great review! xx

  6. This is one of my favourite primers, my pores can sometimes be really visible so this is perfect for minimising them. I know exactly what you mean about the packaging though, it's a bit tacky. Which one is the maybelline dupe? I'll have to give it a go..

  12. You have gorgeous skin Josie :) I rarely buy anything from Benefit because it is just a tad too pricey, but it's always good to hear that a product is delivering!

  14. All of Benefits products seem to break me out, I think there must be an ingredient in them all that I'm allergic to or my skin just doesn't like, which is such a shame because they are great products, I had a sample of this with a magazine & thought it was the best thing ever for about a week, until it gave me a huge rash :( Maybelline one sounds interesting though! Totally agree with the packaging too, Soap & Glory makes me feel the same even though I love the products!

  17. I definitely agree with you on gimmicky product packaging, Soap & Glory come out with quite innovative ideas but the annoying slogans always put me off!

Loving your layout, so adorable; the picture is just perfect!

  18. I've been using my sample for a while and I'm just not sure if it does anything for me!? I have giant pores so maybe that's the issue haha. It does feel delicious on my skin though and I also wear it under BB cream. I actually loooove the packaging, bahahahaha! You're so chic Josie, I love a good bit of extra mature cheese. ;)
