I know this is a short month anyway but it went so fast! Which is good, because February has been hard. It seems the January Blues kicked in a little late this year and all I wanted to do was shop...so I did. Plus I had a huge wardrobe clearout so my closet was looking pretty empty (most of it's on eBay if you wanna check it out!) and I've been feeling crap in everything I own, nothing looks good wahwahwahhh. However I've since taken nearly all of it back, the majority of it was all just a quick pick me up and none of it was really needed or even wanted that much. I'm kind of proud because in the past I'd have just kept it all! I do wish the A.P.C skirt had fit but it really was like a belt and that's not just my inner grandma talking! It was like a skirt version of knicker shorts but at least they were kind and let me return it in the end (the funny delivery guy came back!) It does come in a longer length so I might want to take a closer look at that. Here's the pieces I did keep:
FEBRUARY'S PIECE
Shirt - Topshop
For me a pale blue shirt is a must, I live in them in Spring and Summer. I'm starting to get a little bored of grey and black and although I don't wear much colour I always love blue. My old shirt from H&M just wasn't quite right (too see through and too long) so I decided it was time to invest in a new one. I'm usually a bit wary of Topshop but I think that they do casual shirts really well...the material and cut is always lovely and the price point isn't too bad either. This is a lovely light material and I love the pockets on the front (hides the fact I have no boobs haha!) I think it's lovely to just chuck on with jeans for an easy but smartish outfit.
Top - Zara (old from my Mum's closet)
I'm not sure what category to put this in because it didn't cost me a penny! My Mum also had a big clearout of her wardrobe and I rescued this blouse. It's that greeny-browny colour that I've been craving for a while and whilst what I really want is a sweater (this is perfect, but it's angora which kind of puts me off!) it'll do in the meantime! I think it'll look quite cute dressed up with red lips although I think I'll most likely end up eBaying it.
ACCESSORIES
Bra - ASOS
Shoes - GAP
Well the bra doesn't count because 1) It was Valentine's so obviously I had to treat myself because no one else did and 2) God knows how but I keep losing them so needed a new one! I had 5 and now I have three, it's so weird and annoying.
Now the shoes. Originally I said in my rules that shoes count but now I think I underestimated how hard that would be. The thing is, I bloody love shoes...they are my passion! So I've decided to not include them, I still think about shoe purchases as carefully as I do with clothes but I'm not going to deny myself a pair that I really, really love. I'm fussy with clothes because it's rare I find something that I think fits well so often end up in the same things...shoes allow me to change it up a bit! And when I'm stuck indoors ill one of my fave things to do is try on my whole collection. True sad story. I do need to edit them though, I have way too many pairs that don't get worn and that's no life for a beautiful shoe! Most are in very good condition so I'd like to eBay them but for some reason that seems like a lot of faff...like how would I even post them? If anyone has any tips that'd be fab!
Anyway, onto this particular pair. I have them in black ponyskin and live in them, I got them way back in August and at the time I was debating over them and the leopard pair but decided to play it safe. However these have been on my mind since and it's taken me until now to track a pair down in my size! They're funkier than what I usually go for but they still fit in well with my wardrobe and are perfect for work because they're just so comfy!
So I think I've done quite well this month! There's been a few beauty buys as well so I haven't really saved loads of money but I think next month I will because I tend to buy beauty in bulk (hello Boots 3 for 2!) so that I'm sorted for a couple of months. I need to be more frugal in March I think, calling in sick all the time sucks because you get no money! Cheers CF -_- Although I bought two things already, oopsy! I have my reasons though, I'll show you them soon!

You made some great purchases- they all look like really useful, good quality things that will incorporate well in your wardrobe, and will last a long time. I adore those shoes! xx
ReplyDeleteParcel2go or whatever they're called might end up being a cheaper option than the Royal Mail nowadays (since it became such a rip off!). I think you did really well, and yes you can't deny yourself shoooeees! I really like the little Vans style pumps <3 xxx

I think it's ok and a good move anyway. We may buy almost nothing as we think when tracking.. annoying.

As long as it's been taken well- angora is just brushing the fur off the rabbit! love the blue shirt and bra! I always loose those bras xo
ReplyDeleteThe shirt was a sound purchase! I can imagine you rockin' it with some slightly ripped black jeans and your leo sneaks (or all white ones... ;). I know I always go on about how you make me want to be more chic, but I can't help being drawn to all the boho goodness on the high street. Have you spotted this? It's so sweet!

ReplyDeleteWonderfully done Josie, as I've said before I think this is such a cool idea and I salute you for pulling it off! Now I have major wardrobe envy for you and your Mum's styles (stylish family, no?) and I really love your picks; the shoes really liven up any outfit but without being too OTT, I reckon they strike the balance perfectly!

Love love love the lace bra and the shoes OH MY NEED! :D
ReplyDeleteI love love love those shoes Josie, I recently bought a pair of my favourite ballet flats in leopard print ponyskin and they really add a bit of excitement to an otherwise neutral outfit. I love the fact you try on your shoe collection when you're stuck indoors. The thought of it makes me smile haha, I wish my shoe collection were big enough that I could do that (and that they weren't scattered about around the house!). I sold a pair of shoes on Ebay a little while ago, here's the link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350989917107?ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1561.l2649 in case it helps you in knowing how to sell yours :) I think you just have to be honest if there is any wear and tear and make sure you take a photo of the sole! xxx
