LIFESTYLE | September's Happy List

hello september

I know we're all saying it but how the heck is it September already? And is it just me or does September look like it's spelt wrong? I love it though, nothing like that new term feeling (although I left education two years ago...) My September got off to a typically embarrassing start, my neighbour knocked to pick up a parcel and I was holding Freddy because he doesn't particularly like dogs (I know, weirdo!) and Freddydog put his paw down my top and pulled it down so I flashed  poor Mr Next Door. I shall no longer be taking parcels for him again. But healthwise I feel pretty good for the first time in months, I finished IVs a little early on Monday because it was hurting while I was doing them for the whole two weeks and it turns out the needle was actually hooked into me and my Mum had to tug it out which was a bit ick. But while I'm feeling better I'm going to try and do the things I couldn't do on last months list which was go swimming and do a first aid course. I did manage to carry on reading and I started my driving lessons, finally, but I'm not going to do a college course right now. As I said before I don't think I should be working right now, I could do a whole essay explaining why and defending myself but if you're a regular reader you'll know how much I struggled with just a part time job because I'm ill a lot so I just want to concentrate on my health. There are always people with an opinion (especially other people with CF which is a terrible shame but I won't even rant about that because I'll be here all day) but I think, as with all things in life, you know what's best for yourself and my family and friends are so supportive and understanding so the people I don't know and their opinions don't matter. I used to try and push myself because I was worried what other people thought and to prove a point that CF doesn't rule me etc but that's just silly and although it's the reason for my decision now it still doesn't take over my life. It makes me feel very guilty though (even though I know I'm not lazy or a fraud!) so I think I'll have a chat with my CF team and ask about other people in similar situations.

But anyway, onto my September Happy List!

  1. Make Christmas cards. I know, it's too early to mention the C-word but my plan is to sell Christmas card packs this year on Frojo Designs and give some of the proceeds to The Cystic Fibrosis Trust. As everything is handmade a pack of 10 takes me about an hour to make so I better get cracking! I've started already, here's a little preview of one of the designs.
  2. Go to the cinema. I've been going at least once a month this year and I love it so I really want to go again! Although this is the worst time of year because it's Halloween so all the scary ones come out and my friend makes me go and see them with her :'(
  3. Have a clearout. I have about half my wardrobe hanging up ready to be sold or donated so I need to get round to doing it! Some things are on depop (search josiesjournal) but I think I'll just eBay the lot soon. My room could just do with a clearout in general, I have tonnes of magazines everywhere!
  4. Blog properly again. The past few months I haven't got into a regular blogging routine, it's not been my fault but I'd like to get back into it! I also hope to keep more up to date with my blog reading and commenting because I like reading blogs as much as I like writing my own.
  5. Get my hair cut a little shorter. Not sure if I'll go through with this but I just feel it could do with an extra inch off. You know no one in real life noticed I had it cut -_- I guess that's the sign of a good cut though?
So those are my plans! I think number 1 will keep me super busy, but that's a good thing! Next year the plan is to get to craft fairs which is kind of exciting...it's good to do something that I can do at home and in my own time. What are your plans for the month?

  3. So glad you're feeling a little better Josie! I think with regards to feeling like a fraud - if people judge you, then the bottom line is, they ain't worth your time or company! You are such a lovely, genuine person, and as long as you are happy and taking care of yourself, it's no one else's business!

Also, I'm looking forward to seeing your christmas cards too! May have to buy some ;) xxx

  4. I absolutely agree with you on the fact that you should do what's best for you.

I have a chronic pain thing, but thankfully this year I haven't been suffering from it too bad, it was last year when I was told, when I felt a lot worse. The cold weather seems to make it worse, so gives me a reason to wrap up even more!

The cards are so cute!! And a great idea too.

Yes, cut your hair more, come to the short haired side...

  5. Glad to hear you're feeling better! People will always judge - if they weren't judging you for CF they'd find something else and that's their problem not yours. As you said it's YOUR life! :D can't wait to see more of the Christmas cards!! xo

The first design of the Christmas card is lovely and such a good idea to raise cash for such a great cause. Looking forward to seeing the hair shorter. I bumped into Little Miss Katy who said you might be going on the walking tour I am really hoping to go too if I can rejig things as would be fab to meet you and have a laugh trekking round London Lucy x

  22. I flashed the postman once - I was putting some washing on in the utility room and thought I may as well pop my Pj top in so whipped that off, threw it in the washer and when I stood up the postman was standing in front of the window and he got an eyeful of the goodies...whoops.
I'm so sorry I upset you with my last post Josie, it really is a positive thing for me and I just wanted to show that I moved on and so can others. I know you must understand how I have felt and I'm always here when you need a good rant.

  23. HAHA flashing your neighbours is always fun! I thought it was bad enough when I answered the door to the postman once with a thin PJ top on whilst being braless, he probably saw a 'preview' but the whole hog is something else! I'm so glad you are feeling a bit better, the IV needle sounds so painful, you poor thing :( Good luck with your September happy list, I've also started thinking about Christmas, we need to be prepared!

  32. Hope you manage to complete your list this month! I don't think it's fair to expect you to work when you feel like it's not best for you. It's your body and you need to listen to it and take care of it, that's the most important thing here. A job is just another creation of society, your health isn't!
