BEAUTY | Rodial Sculpting Brushes & Contouring Powder

(Excuse how rough I look, caught that Christmas cold that's going about!)

Hello! I hope you had a lovely Christmas and stuffed your face silly with food? I definitely did and still am, it's lots of fun.

But here I have a bit of a pre-Christmas treat from Rodial, a few weeks back I attended the launch of their new Sculpting Bar at Harvey Nichols in London with Katy and was kindly gifted my own little contour kit.

First things first can we just appreciate how dreamy they all look? So chic and simple and there's nothing flimsy about them. The Instaglam Compact Deluxe Contouring Powder* also has a good mirror inside it which is always a bonus for me. The brushes are gorgeously soft and I've since cleaned them and they stayed in shape and didn't moult at all, unlike some cheaper brands.

Now I have to admit I've never really properly contoured before, after watching YouTube videos I thought I'd need to cake my face in a thousand products in a million different shades but it's actually a lot less complicated than I thought if you have the right tools. I applied my usual base (basically what I use in this post) and applied the Contour Powder using The Sculpting Brush* and The Eye Sculpt Brush* with the guidance of this tutorial and it seriously couldn't be easier because the angled shape of the brushes basically do the work for you. I was initially worried the powder would be too dark for my ghostie face but but it's actually a lot more subtle than it appears in the pan which is good because it means you can build it up as needed.

You know I like my make up to be done as quickly as possible but this is definitely a step worth adding to my routine as it's such a small thing but makes a real difference!

Do you bother with contouring? Have you ever tried anything from Rodial before?

PS Can I just gush over that compact?!?! Love it!

It's so so good isn't it? Not even a little bit orange, which is perfect.

Hope you had a lovely Christmas Josie!! xxx

  5. Your cheekbones look amazing! I've only just started trying to learn how to contour and I'm not toooo bad, but most days I can't really be bothered haha. It's good to know that this isn't too dark, finding face products for pale skin is so difficult! xx

  10. Look at that beautiful skin, so jealous.
I have never tried contouring before, and I'm not sure it is really for me, maybe I'm just being lazy, in fact that is definitely it :)

  12. I think that's the perfect shade for contouring! I have a very roundish oval face so I wouldn't even know how to! I try but I don't know if it turns out well!

  15. I contour because I have a giant pale round moon head, and I think it helps give a little illusion of definition and colour! You look really great, not rough at all in my opinion. And I'm always struck by how lovely your skin is!! x
