FASHION | The Perfect Loafer

I have a lot of shoes but for the longest time there was a gap in my shoedrobe - the smart black flat. I own plenty of black ankle boots, I have a pretty sizeable sneaker collection, simple summer flats and a couple of pairs of heels I can just about walk in but nothing for when I need to look smart but a boot won't do and I'm not in the mood for heels.

I knew what I wanted in my head - a mannish loafer, in black patent leather that covers most of the foot. It's taken me a few years to find a pair that isn't too chunky and I was worried I'd be looking forever until I came across the Dune Lexus Loafer.

It is love, they're my dream loafers! They're incredibly comfy too, sometimes with patent leather they can be really stiff but the first day I wore these I was walking around London all day and they didn't even need breaking in. As I'm in trainers the majority of the time I find a lot of other shoes really uncomfortable so I'm really pleased that these don't hurt. These are definitely a high street gem!

I love how these are going to smarten up my usual grey jumper/denim combos and I think they're going to add a tomboy touch to dresses and skirts. How would you style them?

  22. I always struggle to find smart black shoes that aren't ankle boots or healed shoes either, pumps always tend to slide off my feet.. maybe loafers are the way forward! These are a great find and amazing that they were totally comfy without any wearing in - that's so rare! xx

  23. Those are so lovely. I have really funny shaped feet though and shoes like that always fall off when I walk, I need fully closed or ones with a bar :(
