BEAUTY | Origins at John Lewis Oxford Street

So I was lucky enough to be invited down with a few other bloggers to check out the revamped Origins counter in John Lewis on Oxford Street. It was such a fun evening and I'm under no obligation to blog about it but I really want to tell you about how much I love the new retail space because I don't know about you but I find a lot of high end beauty counters very intimidating. I often feel like I can't touch anything and I feel a bit nervous to ask for help. Or I feel equally nervous when they approach me (I know, I'm a wuss!) But the concept of the new counter is all about it being easy for you to explore the products alone, with help from friendly staff there if you need it of course. There's also a few things on offer at all Origins counters which I think are unique and that you might not know about so I wanna let you know about those too!

I'll apologise now for the bad quality photos - I stupidly forgot my camera which is reason #1454453 I'd never make it as a full time blogger!

So. Many. Products. And can we just appreciate the Pinterest-worthy displays? I love the jars, not only do they look really cool, they also showcase the ingredients inside the products which I think is really interesting! For example I have the Original Skin Renewal Serum (review here) that contains Willowherb but I had no clue what that was and here it is, looking all pretty. There are testers for everything too which for me is really important because I hate buying skincare without knowing the scent/texture.

There's this fab little area where you can get a skincare consultation and a mini facial for free which I think is amazing considering how much places will charge you for something like that! Definitely worth a go if you're confused about what products you should be using and you're under no obligation to buy anything (although I defy anyone who won't be tempted to leave with at least one product!)

This is the gift wrap station and I won't lie, I kinda want one of these in my house! This is again a free service when you make a purchase and is available all year round (I have a feeling this will be a lifesaver for a lot of men!)

I've saved what I think you'll find the best for last - The Sample Bar. It's literally like a free pick 'n' mix of skincare samples, amazing right? I always want to ask for samples at beauty counters but I always worry they'll be like 'No you peasant, buy the full sized product!' so to be able to take some without the awkwardness is an awkward girl's dream come true. I feel like this is going to be very popular. Not every Origins counter has this yet but they are one of the few brands that are fab for letting you try out products without getting huffy about it, this I know because I've been to three different counters since (I keep dragging everyone I go shopping with to check out their stuff!) and the staff have been super friendly and helpful. The free skin consultations and mini facials are available nationwide too!

After the tour of the new space we headed off to The Edition Hotel for drinks and nibbles which was absolutely lovely! It was great to meet the girls from Origins and John Lewis as well as fellow bloggers Ellie, Ally, Hayley and Josie (I almost didn't want to link their blogs because they just show how embarrassing mine is haha!) So thank you John Lewis and Origins for a lovely evening and also for the gift bag too (reviews coming soon!)

What do you think of the revamped space? Have you tried anything from Origins before?

  1. Loving the set-up, I often feel the same way with beauty staff especially when I'm uncertain what I want and just want to take the time to browse. I've never tried anything from Origins before, will definitely have to pay this Oxford St. counter a visit. Great photos <3

  2. Nice! Love the layout of the whole space. I've only tried a few Origins products coz they're pricey here in Canada, but I do love the line:)
    Have a fab weekend, Josie!

  3. that sample bar is such a good idea - I sometimes find it really intimidating even asking for a sample but having a help yourself area really eliminates that! Looks like they've done a fab job and are really thinking of the end users xx

  10. I'm yet to try any of the Origins products even though I often hear good things about them. This new space looks cool and I know what you mean about sometimes feeling slightly intimidated in these places. I think it's sometimes hard when it's quiet and you simply want to browse without the pressure of browsing. Sounds like you had a fun evening. :)

  15. i love the idea of the sample pick and mix! I would love to try samples of more high end products because they're expensive and if you don't like it then it's just a waste of money. I'm using the Origins Original Skin Serum at the moment and it smells amazing. I love it in the morning to wake me up and it makes me skin feel lovely.
