My First Tattoo

So after talking about it for years and years, me and my two cousins finally got our matching tattoos on Sunday! Yes it's a generic, girly heart but we're super happy with them (although my cousins got three hearts on their sides and I just got the one on my wrist.)

heart tattoo on side of wrist

It's a black outline and I'm not going to get it coloured in - I've never been one for colour really have I?! I was a bit nervous but I promised them it wasn't a Vampire Ride situation (twice now I've queued for that with them, sat on the seat and then abandoned them at last minute because I'm a wimp, my bad.) I honestly barely felt it, I know this changes depending where you get it and the size of the tattoo but if you're thinking of getting a small design where mine is don't let the thought of pain put you off because it really is nothing. You can get a heart too and be part of our cousins squad, no?

You should though, they're the best because they helped me out with monies when I was a massive n00b and forgot my pin at the cash point. Seriously, my mind went blank and I got it wrong three times so guess who is now without a card for a few days? Obviously hours later at 1am the number decided to pop into my head. Dear oh dear. But yes, without them I would still be currently tattooless <3

I can definitely see how they can be addictive, they're not to everyone's taste but personally I love them. I'm hoping to get a bigger design in the future but for now I'm just enjoying this dinky one, I'm like those people who get engaged and they start waving their hand in the air at random.

What do you think of tattoos? Have you got any? If you have any posts about them I'd love to check them out!

  1. I've been wanting one for over 10 years now, I know what I want and where but I'm too chicken shit. I hate needles. I will get over this one day, soon I hope. I love your little heart, it's tugging at my own yearnings for one.

  2. I've always wanted a tattoo but I'm way too indecisive. I think if I ever got one I'd go for a simpler design like yours though, it looks so good! x

  3. I have quite a collection of tattoos now! Almost two full sleeves, my chest, both sides, my shins, thighs and calves. I'm thinking of doing a tattoo tour blog post soon but I'll definitely need a hand from my boyfriend to take the photos haha. Your first one is absolutely lovely! xx

  6. I love this Josie!! I have a small anchor on my ankle and love it.. I can totally see why it could get addictive too but I won't get any more. I'd love to see your bigger designs in future! xxx

All of my tattoos are plain black, no colour. I am going to branch out to a colour one next but I just love simplicity. This is gorgeous Josie xx

  11. I love tattoos - there's so many different ways that people have them whether it's for fashion, for a loved one or for someone who may no longer be around…they're personal for every individual and I don't think there's an ugly tattoo as they're all unique!

Love your one - that's adorable and in such a lovely place too! :)

  12. Aw me and my best friend also have matching heart tattoos on our ribs! You're braver than I am with the pain though, I still thought it bloody hurt. Plus we both psyched ourselves up for about two years before we finally did it!

  19. I'm not a massive fan of tattoos. However, I have been a n00b and forgot my pin number a few times. I seem to always do it at pay at the pumps at petrol stations. I once blocked my pin for checking into a hotel and the bank was being hard work about sorting it out so I just used my credit card for everything. Doom.

  21. I've always been debating myself whether to get a tattoo or not, It's odd because I'm usually alright with pain but the thought of a tattoo with it's pain puts me off. But a part of me is thinking just to get on with it and do it! I only want a small one like yours :) http://coffeeatmidnight13.blogspot.co.uk/

  25. I love small tattoos like this one, it looks so good! I've been thinking about getting a semi colon on the inside of my finger for about a year now, but it's supposed to be quite painful so I'm not sure if I'll go through with it or not haha xx

  26. Such a pretty design! I have a swallow design on my wrist after wanting it for years. The pain isn't that bad but I don't know what else I really want at the moment. Too many desicions! xs

  27. Over the moon you got a tattoo Josie, and this heart looks so gorgeously divine on you! I've personally always adored stars, hearts, anything small yet meaningful and yours is certainly no damn exception. Love! I've got three little stars and was terrified of the pain, but it's not bad at all is it? Like you say, nothing! I was so relived haha. There's something amazing about getting one, I'm so happy you went ahead <3

I feel you on the Vampire! Haha, I remember when my friends and I went to Thorpe Park as teens and I always sat on the seat below watching them. They loved laughing as they went round the track each time at little me below. *humiliated*. Oh well. Who needs the Vampire when you've got Twilight anyway? :D ;)

  29. Honestly it didn't even feel like needles, nothing like when you have a blood test or something like that - it was far less painful :) x

  35. Honestly I think blood tests and jabs are far, far worse! For me the pain was minimal x

  38. Thanks Leah! Already planning more haha have you done a post on yours? X

    ReplyDelete
  39. I wouldn't really compare it to other needles! It's absolutely nothing like a blood test or any other kind of jab, I think it's less painful because the needle doesn't go deep into your skin :) x

  40. You just feel so stupid don't you haha! That's because there's so much pressure at the petrol stations where you've already filled your tank up! x

  41. Thank you Lucy! To be fair though I've had a lot of practise with needles at hospital haha x

  42. I've got quite a high pain threshold but I was still nervous! But I honestly barely felt it, I guess it depends where you have it. This only took about 15 mins too :) x

  51. Love it, perfect for your first tattoo! But yes tattoos are definitely addictive.. I (think) I have 7 now.. most of them are small (e.g. I have a star on my wrist and a heart in a similar position to yours) so I don't feel like I'm covered in them or have too many but sometimes I just get the bug for another.. xx
