Week #2

Hallo! You ok? Sorry if this post looks a bit weird, I'm writing it on my phone because guess where I am? Yep, the hospital!

My lungs had been feeling quite out of puff since just before New Year so in clinic on Tuesday it was decided I'd come in for ivs and optiflow (a special oxygen machine) on either Thursday or Friday night. But it seems like my lungs were looking forward to a little holiday (ha!) so they decided to be extra bad so I'd have to get in earlier! I seriously couldn't breathe, I've never felt like that before in my life - every time I tried to move I felt like I was suffocating and I have to say I don't think I've ever been so scared it definitely wasn't a nice feeling. And I was a massive idiot because I had a bath and washed my hair when my oxygen sats were like 73% (anything below 90 and you need to use oxygen so I was very breathless!) Stupid thing to do because I basically turned blue haha.

So we went to a&e where my cf team were waiting for me and I got put on optiflow straight away, as well as having all the basic tests done. My cf team are just the best, as are the a&e staff - I can't believe this is the same a&e that *insert all the insults* Jeremy Hunt wants to close down! It was constantly busy and the staff were just fantastic, the man is crazy wanting to get rid. Anyway rant over haha, I got a side room on the high dependency unit and that's where I've been ever since. I'm bed bound because I have loads of wires attached to me but I'm doing fine - ivs are already doing the trick and I can actually breathe comfortably now on this machine. They think it's just rubbish stuck in my lungs so just gotta get it shifted with drugs and physio. I won't bother saying I hope I'm not here long because I think I jinx myself every time I say it haha but even if I don't blog regularly I hope to do these weekly updates still at least - if you can put up with the funky formatting!

So that's my drama of the week haha! How are you? What have you been up to? Thank you to everyone for your get well messages!
