BEAUTY | Getting Back On Track

Sorry for the iPhone snap!

While I was in hospital it's safe to say that my skincare routine wasn't exactly top of my priorities. Understandable, but as a result my face has definitely suffered! Thankfully I've managed to stay blemish-free but sitting for the majority of the day and night for days on end with an oxygen mask stuck to my face has left it really dry and dull. My beauty stash is tiny but I've found what I do have in my bathroom cabinet has been really helping:

-Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Skin Renew Cleansing Oil 200ml £10.99 - I've reviewed this before here, but it's only this year that I started using it more regularly. I picked it up because I'd read good things about the range and that it seemed lightweight (anything too thick and oily makes me cringe!) It's a pre-cleanser, which I didn't realise until I got it home and at first I thought 'Well that sounds like a lot of faff' but the extra step is totally worth it...massage it onto a dry face (which feels divine) and then as you rinse it off it transforms into this milky texture that I find is really effective in removing make up. My skin feels so soft afterwards that I almost feel like I don't need to do anything else. The only thing I would say is that the citrusy scent took some getting used to but now I actually like it.

-REN Hot Cloth Cleanser 150ml £16.00 - Yay to ASOS stocking REN! I'm a huge fan of their products and when I got a discount code to celebrate my third anniversary with ASOS (thanks guys!) I thought it only right to treat myself to something. I'd been using No7 Beautiful Skin Hot Cloth Cleanser which is lovely and still gets used in the morning but I can't resist anything rose scented! The REN cleanser is a lot thicker than the No7 one so it feels like you're getting a deeper cleanse which is perfect for the end of the day. It's also great at reducing redness as well, my face gets all flushed sometimes when I'm on IVs and while nothing will make it disappear completely I find it's fab at calming it down.

-Super Facialist Rose Intense Moisture Mask 125ml £8.99 - After being so impressed with the Cleansing Oil I was keen to pick up another product from the range and went for this mask because as I said, I love rose scents! This smells gorgeous but I think for some people it might be too overpowering and sweet. I usually have trouble finding face masks I get along with, I don't consider my skin to be sensitive but the few I've tried in the past have really irritated it. However I have no problems with this, I apply it twice a week and leave for about 5 minutes and my skin feels so hydrated afterwards. It feels smooth and I don't know if it's just me but I'm sure it looks plumper too. I love this and think it's such a bargain!

After that I apply Clinique All About Eyes Rich Eye Cream and The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil (see review here) and luckily I think my skin is getting back on track. I wish I could say the same for my health...I've just gone back to square one and although my IVs finished yesterday I think I'm going to need more or maybe even another hospital stay. But I'll bore you with that tomorrow after my clinic appointment today.

What are your go-to products for giving your skin some TLC?

  1. I need that Clinique eye cream, I've recently ran out of my Benefit one! I have a huge hamper of Liz Earle products to work through but I'd quite like to try some REN products...

  2. I've been meaning to try the super facialist rose moisture mask, now I think i'll get it! I don't have sensitive skin either but sometimes masks do break me out so it's good to know! The main mask I use that doesn't do this is Origins Clear Improvements - Charcoal activating mask, which is AMAZING but also so expensive. :/ you should try it though it feels like it gets all the London smog out of your skin haha ^___^. It's not the kind of thing you use a lot though. Maybe once a week or every two weeks. x

  7. I would really like to try that cleansing oil. My go-to for skin is just really basic...a decent moisturizer like the Clinique Dramatically Different one.

  10. I'm really terrible when it comes to taking care of my skin, I can just be really lazy. But I have a Ren facemask my sister bought me that I just love. My skin feels like butter after using it!
I have my fingers crossed that you wont have to go back to hospital.
