Liberty in London is one of my all time favourite stores and I just so happened to be in the area with a few hours to kill on the very day of my one year transplant anniversary. I popped in 'just to have a look' but ended up leaving with a purchase that is special in more ways than one...
However when I was in Liberty I saw these straight away, the last pair in the colour that I wanted and in the size that I needed and best of all they were only in the blooming sale! £115 which I know is still pricey but that's less than a pair of boots from places like & Other Stories (incidentally I have a pair from there I want to show ya too, oops) and considering they're usually priced at £375 I think I found my greatest ever sale find. I wanted them in this faded black colour because I think it looks a little nicer with black jeans and they're so comfy I can walk around all day in them.
Which leads me to my other point. I think shoes are an apt way to celebrate an extra year of life as it also marks almost a year of being able to walk when before I couldn't. First of all because my rubbish, ruined CF lungs left me needing to use a wheelchair when I was out and about and then after transplant I lost all use of my muscles so it took two months and lots of physio to learn to be able to walk again. Now I can walk without the need of wheelchairs or frames or sticks, I walk with confidence in both my lungs and my legs and I don't forget how lucky I am to be able to do so. To be able to put on pair of shoes that are a little bit fancy and walk about in is a total luxury in many different ways and these are a reminder of that. A reminder to be grateful and a reminder to celebrate where I am now compared to before! Who knows where these boots will take me?
What do you think of them? Have you ever made any extra special purchases?
