Well hello misery guts! That's me, not you. Well actually it's not me at all but it definitely looks like it...why I no be all pretty and smiley like Tara? My face should look all happy because despite the fact it's January and wet and miserable and my lungs are being a bit naughty I've been waking up with a massive smile on my face every day. I don't know why and I don't care why either really, you should question yourself if you're feeling sad and don't know why but unexplained happiness should just be enjoyed while it lasts!
Although my weekend was a bit of a bore to be honest, I didn't really feel like winding down because I just wanted to go out but then I looked out my window and was just like....nah. But I did go through 4 years worth of Vogue and Elle and InStyle and cut them up for my scrapbook which was fun (yup, I'm a child ok?) but kind of bittersweet really because at some point this week the poor cut up things will have to go to the dump to be recycled. That's like hundreds of pounds worth of stuff gone mannn! It will be tough saying goodbye to them, they're almost like old friends. I will prepare a soundtrack of James Blunt, Adele and of course a bit of Boyz II Men...End Of The Road is a classic goodbye song! Also, Say Goodbye by S Club 7. Both were played at our school's leaving thing and it was emotional. I know a lot of people complain about Vogue but I just randomly picked one up one day because I was staying in hospital and needed a magazine. I fell in love with the cover (it was this one) and I just thought Kate looked so cool in her sequin dress and parka, in fact the whole editorial remains a favourite to this day. Before then I'd never had an interest in fashion although I'd always loved clothes and shopping. These days I don't buy British Vogue as much (although I still can't resist a Kate cover) because I kind of felt like it'd become too safe and almost dull but I think that it's definitely become a bit more exciting recently! For me Vogue should be about fantasy, Elle and other mags are for shopping inspo. I'm also loving the return of models on the cover, it gets boring when it's all about celebs. I've still got that first issue I ever bought, it's so dogeared and the pages are falling out but it's special to me.
Anyway I've basically been living in some variation of this outfit for the past week and yes, my ankles do indeed get nippy and no, these furry shoes have not actually been ruined by the rain. Nice one GAP.

Boo to those shoes getting trashed by rain. Sort it out, weather xx

so gorgeous, so cosey, so chic, as per usual Josie xx
ReplyDeleteI think you should show us your scrap book so that I can steal ideas ;) xxx
ReplyDeleteDefinitely in agreement about your magazine philosophy- models, rather than celebrities should be on the cover and Vogue shouldn't become an Elle clone.
ReplyDeleteI had a HUGE clear-out this week, my bedroom is so bare, but having hardly any possessions is really nice, actually.
Have a good week doll, you look lovely!! xx
It's lovely to hear you're feeling happy Josie, especially in a month like January with all this rain! I hope your lungs start being good again soon. I used to love S Club 7, we used to go to a disco on Friday nights and do dance routines to them and Spice Girls. Yep, we were pretty cool haha. I bet your scrapbooks are looking pretty amazing after all that cutting and sticking, I always think I should do something like that but then it reminds me too much of uni and keeping a conceptual diary and I forget about it. I love the idea of flicking through a book with gorgeously gorgeous fashionable ladies inside it, and I totally agree - models on the cover over celebs any day! xxx
ReplyDeleteOh, 4 years of Vogue sounds wonderful… I once got of several years of mags, too… Still have regrets about it. I do agree with you about fashion mags - these days I read Harpers because I like the style of writing and the stories are often good and I buy Vogue mainly on autopilot and just in case they publish a good interview with a designer… These days I often feel that most mags only do stories on people who need a bit of PR to promote something, whether themselves or a movie or a book etc… So yes, at the end half of each issue becomes really dull and very predictable. x
ReplyDeleteah i love when you feel so happy for no apparant reason! and ohman looking through vogue and elle is life. haha xx
ReplyDeleteLiking the shoes:) And OMG! S Club 7....talk about blast from the past!
ReplyDeleteLove those shoes!! Aww 90's & early noughties music was the best <3 I was such a huge S Sclub fan haha! xoxo

Sometimes the weather make me feel like "oh shit it looks so depressive today" lol Anyway, 90s tunes always bring back my childhood too!
ReplyDeleteI really love your shoes! x
You look exceptionally posh and sophisticated in this all black outfit Josie. I ind magazine scrapbooking so much fun, its like creating inspiration boards of looks we will never be able to wear, lol. Vogue is imported here so its ridiculously expensive. Ohh I remember S Club, what on earth happened to them? I enjoyed reading your thoughts on my last post, thank you!
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit, cosy and sophisticated at the same time :) I'm impressed that the furry shoes have survived the rain! xx
ReplyDeleteI went through a ton of my sister's Vogue magazines and ripped out all the best bits, it's so nostalgic to see all the clothes people were wearing back in 2004 :) Yay for the super shoes! haha xxx
ReplyDeleteThose shoes are perfect , its just like the Celine but for the price of GAP, all black looks good
ReplyDeleteYou look fab Josie! Any playlist with S Club 7 in it is sassy, i am now imagining a little Vogue mag shouting 'TOOOOOOOOON'… im now laughing, wow..

you look fab as always! Love yoxxur room too btw, seriously jealous of your wallpaper. I randomly decided to redecorate my room at the weekend and stripped all the wallpaper off, but didn't think to buy paint or anything in advance so now I;m stuck with bare walls until I can buy stuff :( xx
ReplyDeleteYou always strike the perfect balance between stylishly cool & casual with your outfits, I salute you lovely! <3
ReplyDeleteYour scrapbooking sessions sound so much fun and who can beat a 90s soundtrack? ;-)

I really want to get into scrapbooking mostly because I freaking love cutting and sticking. My mum just loves to tell the story of buying my first pair of toddler scissors and how I sat down ALL day cutting pieces of paper up. I think I was easily pleased! Outfit is amaze as always, you stunner!
