I don't really feel like taking outfit pics right now because I still feel very bleurgh, I've been dressing even sloppier than usual or have just stayed in jim jams (bought these pretty new ones from H&M though!) I got to leave hospital on Monday, although the nurses tried saying how I wasn't allowed to leave because my doctor didn't do a discharge form...by now it was like half 6 in the evening and my doctor had gone home, there was no way I was waiting another night because the nurses were being so unclean with my IV meds it was stressing me out. You have to be really sterile with the equipment and meds seeing as it's going directly into my blood stream but some of the nurses are just so careless. For example they put gloves on outside my room then opened the door and tried to do my IVs. I'd ask them to change the gloves because they'd touched the door handle and they'd just say 'But these gloves are sterile.' No, they were sterile until you touched the door, everyone knows how germy door handles are. They'd just treat me like I have OCD or something, you know I'm not like that though because you know how messy I let my room get haha. It was so frustrating...all I wanted was for them to put the gloves on after they came in the room so they weren't touching the door. It's simple common sense right? Please tell me you get where I'm coming from! Sorry for the moan, just wanted to make sure I'm not insane haha!
At least I'm home now and back in charge of my own treatments! I'm much better although still really ill, I'm off the oxygen but my oxygen levels are still only about 90%, they should be around 95% at least because that's what I usually am. Once they go down they can sometimes take a while to get back up again so I just have to be patient! Still doing lots of physio, nebulisers and IVs like in hospital only now I have my own bed and Freddydog too of course (he's had a haircut since this photo was taken and is so soft and cuddly now!) I think I'm going to go to Bluewater today though just to get out for a bit after being cooped up all week. I'm really feeling a big shopping spree but I can't I don't think...I have a load of birthday presents to buy and seeing as I'm off sick I gotta save my money for next month because I won't be getting paid a lot, boo! I don't care about feeling ill, I just hate how it means I lose monies.

Oh Josie! I can't believe how stupid the nurses were being, you'd think they'd know the deal and not need you, the patient, to tell them!? Like, DUH. No wonder you were getting annoyed.
ReplyDeleteYay for new pink PJ's and being reunited with Freddy. I hope you have fun window shopping and planning your purchases for next month!

It's so annoying how careless they were being with you. And in your last post where you spoke about the woman not even knowing you had CF and trying to blame you for not having your food. How can she blame you for that? That just seems ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get well soon and your oxygen levels go back up. Don't you get sick pay when you are off? I'm not sure where you work, but where I work we get paid when we are off sick for a certain number of days, then after that we can get government sick pay. I know my housemates don't get paid when they are off sick, but can apply for the government sick pay if they are off. It's not as much but it's better than nothing. I'm not sure of the details so I might be a bit wrong here!

I love those jammies, although I can't have bare legs in bed, i can' stand by bare legs touching each other during the night for some weird reason, and if my knees tough each other I feel like I might vom...weird. I'm totally with you on the glove thing, I used to be a research scientist and when I did anything in cell culture (where you grow human cells in flasks, gross I know) I was really careful with the gloves, even spraying them with 70% alcohol solution so I didn't infect my cells. Then some inconsiderate jerk would just be all blah about their own cells and end up getting the whole lot infected because you had to share an incubator....bloody morons! Sorry for the science bore there!
ReplyDeleteSO you be tough with those nurses and enjoy your rest at home with Freddy!

Fashion, Well Done
Those nurses! Argh! They would drive me batty too! My eldest son has had surgeries, and has one coming up again this year, and I would be so angry if I see them being so unsterile that. I feel for you, Josie:(
ReplyDeleteOn a brighter side, I do like that H&M stuff you got.:)
You definitely weren't being paranoid! It really annoys me that the nurses did that to be honest, they should know better. Nurses were mean to me when I stayed in hospital too! I'm glad you're home safe and sound now, Freddy will protect you from meanness! xxx
ReplyDeleteYou definitely have a right to be asking for them to put gloves on AFTER opening the door. Door handles are one of the dirtiest things ever. They clearly need re-educating! So glad you are home though, I've genuinely missed your daily posts. Hope you are feeling yourself again soon too! Also, try not to worry about money, your health comes first xxxx
ReplyDeleteCute pjs! much fancier than my mens tshirts and random bottoms! Gahhh nurses seriously!? It's like when I've walked out of the dr's and got my prescription and they've given me something that i'm severely allergic to! or when people use things that contaminate my food :( clearly not as severe as all those germs! yuck door handles in hospitals are prob like the tube x ps. have fun shopppppppppppppin
ReplyDeleteThat's basic hygiene Josie! I'll come and be your bloody nurse. Where do you live? I'm obsessive about hand washing at work. That's why my hands are so dry and chapped.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Gems, very pretty pyjamas but I need to have my legs covered too. Ideally with my pjs so long my feet are covered too.
Im so happy to hear you are home Josie, hope you will recover well in your own bed and comfort zone. Please do write to the head at the hospital about the nurses, its such a serious matter and if you don't feel like doing it, give me their email and I will do it for you. If you're trained as a nurse, you need to know these things. You could jeopardize someone's health otherwise. Sorry I am so riled up on that. Freddy must be thrilled to see you!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're home now lovely, there's nothing like your own bed and all I want to do when I'm ill is be at home in bed. I bet Freddy was so excited to have you back :) I totally get where you're coming from with the gloves and I'd feel exactly the same. I can't believe you had to even ask them, but for them to say they're sterile after touching a door handle is so wrong! I'm one of those people who once I've washed my hands in a public toilet I elbow my way out again so I don't have to touch the handle haha I've seen people not wash their hands and touch that door handle, gross! I'm glad you're on the mend and I hope your oxygen levels keep on going up until you're where you should be, take it easy and you definitely deserve a shopping spree. Maybe your friends won't mind if you buy yourself a present instead haha :) take care xxx
ReplyDeleteHappily your back home again :).
ReplyDeleteHi :) I just found your blog, I like it :)
ReplyDeletexx
I wouldn't have thought that the nurses putting their gloves on when they were in the room would be that difficult, I don't blame you for complaining! I'm glad you're back home, get better soon :) xx
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you're home hon, really great news & I so hope you feel better asap <3 Don't blame you for wanting to go to Bluewater, I hope you enjoyed your day if you went, a shopping spree sounds fab and well deserved for you too! Shame on those nurses, it sounds like you had such awful treatment in there and I'm so sorry to hear it was bad like that, when you're feeling so rubbish anyway it doesn't help things! Absolutely love your PJs, they are the cutest colour for Spring! xo
ReplyDeleteSophie xox
I get where you are coming from, the glove thing would bother me too, they're NOT sterile after touching the door handle!! man. I'm glad you are home now, hopefully your oxygen levels get back up to 95% fairly soon.

Bloody hell! Those nurses could bloody kill someone FFS. Definitely complain. I know they're probably all run ragged because of all the budget cuts but jeez, a 5 year old could understand the need for basic hygiene. Hope you're feeling better soon. x x x
ReplyDeleteGlad your home and on the mend lovely! Don't know what's wrong with those nurses, you're definitely right to complain, my mum's an infection control nurse and she'd have an absolute fit if she saw all that happening, I'm not even allowed to eat an apple without washing it thoroughly first when she's around aha, those pjs are lovely too and how adorable does freddy look! x
