After admiring the orange lip trend from afar (I always thought I was a bit too ginger to pull it off myself) I couldn't avoid the trend any longer as they're just everywhere this season! I'm not usually one to pay attention to beauty trends but this is too fun a look to not give it a go. So a couple of weeks ago I popped into Boots and picked up the No7 Stay Perfect Lipstick in Gay Geranium after a recommendation from the lovely Kate. It's a gorgeous reddy-orange that at first looked a little intimidating and if applied straight from the bullet it's a little too bright for me and also has a tendency to go a bit, well, bitty (sorry if you've got Little Britain images in your head now, I know I have!) I know it's not my lips because they're actually the only part of me that's in fab condition (#humblebrag) so I'm putting this down to the product. A lip brush didn't really help either however if I pat it on with my fingers it leaves a much more subtle matte stain yet it's still bright enough to pack a punch without clashing too much with my hair! I would say the staying power is average, I find it does need touching up every hour unlike my Chanel or Revlon lipsticks. But it's super comfortable on the lips, it's not the most moisturising lipstick I've ever tried but it's certainly not drying.
Safe to say this shade is going to be my go-to this summer. While I love a classic red lip this is just a cooler, trendier version that's going to add a quick and easy update to my basic outfits! What do you think of tangerine lips?

I love this colour on you, suits you! I am currently finding that every orangey red I have tried clings to parts of my lips and looks hideous so the search continues.. the bourjois in red pepper on the hand is utter perfection, although it isn't a true orange it has a tinge too it xxx
ReplyDeleteI really like the tangerine lips trend in summer, this is such a nice shade :) xx
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely colour and suits you! <3 mishmsxo
ReplyDeleteThis goes perfectly with your hair and skin-tone, it's such a fresh, summery alternative to reds or pinks! I love the look of this trend, I've given the tangerine trend a try before but it seems to make my skin look sallow :| It might have been my lousy application though haha!
ReplyDeleteNo7 products are so worthwhile, and I think the packaging on this is oh so pretty (: I might have to give a lipstick in this range a go, they look adorable for summer days ahead <3

I adore the shade on you, I love reddish hair with orangish lips! Such a nice, summery look. I love the Revlon just bitten balm stain in Rendezvous for my hit of orange lips, I'd definitely recommend it as it has really great staying power and is so easy to apply! xx
ReplyDeleteoooh, looking gorgeous josie! It's a lovely colour for you :) I'm wayy too scared to try out any bright lip products! haha I do find No7 do some great lip products xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous colour- I'm a sucker for orange lipsticks, and definitely think they suit paler skin tones. Classic red is just a bit too OTT for hot summer days! May have to get this No.7 shade....

This looks perfect on you! Goes so well with your hair and complexion. I had bought an orange lipstick, and then swiftly lost it, so I think I will have to go swatch this.

I have never tried No7 Lipstick as I'm not really a fan of their makeup, but I was actually after a cooler red toned lipstick for the summer, and I think I've found the one!

I was talking about this lipstick on twitter a few weeks ago, I love it, the colour is pretty iconic and I love that it was first launched in the '50s, makes me feel like a glamourous '50s female when I wear it.
