This week I finally got my butt to Oxford for a few days...
...not only is it a city I've wanted to go to for a long time, it's also currently home to my good friend Henna (lucky Oxford!) It was a very chilled visit, mainly spent walking around then spending the evenings watching Netflix and eating enough snacks for five people but equally I had the most laughs I've had in a very long time. Even when the weather was grizzly, we were not. Actually, that's probably not true but we still had jokes about it. I met Henna through instagram, although we worked out that we actually lived about 10 minutes away from each other in London once upon a time which is a strange coincidence. But I'm glad we met later on at a different time in a different space - life can be very weird and nice can't it! It's so important to be around people who encourage you, friends who clap when you win and I've left feeling so motivated about all kinds of things (but let's ignore the fact I've spent most of this weekend watching movies...)
Although I have some photos to show you of the gorgeous architecture I saw, this post isn't a city guide - although Henna gave me an excellent tour and I could write a whole piece about Pitt Rivers alone. I'm sure I will do at some point because I'm definitely going back as soon as I can! Anyway, this post is more of an ode to friendship and a reminder that you can find your 'people' at any age and time and place. Being part of a 'girl gang' isn't really my style, I've always believed in quality over quantity when it comes to pals but used to feel like I was odd for not feeling comfy in a larger group. So it's always nice to reaffirm that you should just do what works for you and not worry about what everyone else is doing - it really doesn't matter if you don't have a 'squad' of about thirty people.
